Show All Answers
1.
When is a pre-application conference required?
Pursuant to Section 50.20.1 of the Beaverton Development Code, pre-application conferences are required for all proposals that require a Type 3 or Type 4 application process. A pre-application conference is optional for Type 2 and not required for Type 1 applications.
2.
What is the purpose of a pre-application conference?
The purpose of the pre-application conference is to acquaint the City, outside agencies, and service providers with a potential application, and to acquaint the applicant with the requirements of the
City Code
, the
Comprehensive Plan
, and other relevant criteria and procedures.
The pre-application conference is intended to be educational only and is not an approval in any manner of your proposal.
The pre-application conference is not intended to be an exhaustive review of all potential issues.
3.
What is the application procedure?
Submit a complete
pre-application conference application form
(together with the required Pre-Application Conference Submittal Checklist form), eight copies of the plan proposal and the required fee.
Typically, the City will schedule and conduct a pre-application conference within two weeks of receipt of a request. Pre-application conferences are held on Wednesday mornings and are one hour length.
At the conference you will meet with representatives of the City’s
Planning Division Department
who will discuss the proposal with you. Depending upon the type and complexity of your proposal, representatives from other
City Departments
and other agencies including but not limited to the
Engineering
,
Transportation
,
Public Works
, and Fire Prevention divisions, may also attend.
During the pre-application conference, staff will identify applicable development code regulations, and comprehensive policies, key issues, and requirements for special studies and information including but not limited to traffic studies and soil studies. Following the pre-application conference, staff will prepare a summary report and mail it to you within 14 days of the meeting date. The summary report will include the names, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of staff in attendance.
4.
How long is the pre-application conference valid?
Pursuant to Section 50.20.6 of the
Beaverton Development Code
, a pre-application conference is valid for one year.
5.
Are pre-application conferences subject to public notice?
Pre-app conferences in the City of Beaverton are not subject to public notice and are not open for the public to attend. When a pre-app proposal is received, application information and plans are routed to City departments and representatives from outside agencies (typically Washington County and the Oregon Department of Transportation). Pre-app proposals are accessible for public view but are not publicized.
6.
Who is the staff contact for additional information on pre-application conferences?
Additional information may be obtained by contacting the Planning Division's voicemail system at 503-526-2420. You can also submit questions to MailboxCEDDPlanning@beavertonoregon.gov
