If off-street parking is required by the city for some new housing types, will the city require the site to be Electric Vehicle-ready (EV-ready)?

The city is following potential changes in state legislation (House Bill 2180) that may require private multifamily residences (with five or more units) to provide EV capacity for 20 percent of parking spaces. If this bill passes, cities will have until July 1, 2022 to comply with the changes.

Residential buildings with one to four units are not covered by the bill. If through engagement, we discover that EV-ready parking is important to the community, then we can explore the issue further with City Council to determine if we might require it or incentivize it.
