Free Tax Help Extended Through July 15

BEAVERTON, Ore. – CASH Oregon and Metropolitan Family Services will continue to offer tax preparation and filing services through Thursday, July 15 to Beaverton residents, in response to high need.

The IRS extended the tax deadline for this year to May 17. Appointments for tax assistance made by April 22 are guaranteed to be submitted before the deadline.

CASH Oregon will continue to assist taxpayers after the deadline, beginning May 27. Services will be offered three times a week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday). The call volume for appointments is very high, so you may experience long waits and a busy signal when trying to make an appointment.

With the help of volunteer tax preparers, CASH Oregon has already been able to help Beaverton residents claim an average refund that is $500 more than during previous years. This is due to the Recovery Rebate Credit where many taxpayers did not receive their stimulus during the year and the only way to receive it is by filing their 2020 tax return. This service is open to those with a 2020 household income below $57,000.

Tax credits such as the Recovery Rebate, Earned Income Tax, or Childcare credit are the most effective tool at lifting Americans out of poverty in the United States.

Trained volunteers have already dedicated hundreds of hours to helping Beaverton residents prepare and file their taxes for this year. They are able to provide this service in a way that complies with COVID-19 precautions and ensures safety for everyone.

If you still need assistance with your taxes, call 503-966-7942 to make an appointment, and stop by the Beaverton City Library to pick up a packet of intake paperwork. For more information, visit:
