Beaverton Hires Chad Lynn to Lead City's Public Works Department

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Mayor Denny Doyle has announced Chad Lynn as the newest member of his management team as the City of Beaverton’s Public Works Director.

Lynn is the Assistant Director of Public Works for the City of Beverly Hills where he oversees 140 employees and $47.5 million in budget programs. He has been with the City of Beverly Hills since 2005 and has more than 25 years of public and private experience, including an extensive background in parking operations and management.

“Chad is a welcome addition to Beaverton,” said Mayor Denny Doyle. “He has proven experience and leadership in capital projects, infrastructure management and public services. I look forward to working with him as we implement major improvements in the community.”

The recruitment process was collaborative and involved city staff from all levels of the organization. Mayor Doyle emphasized the need for a visionary and inclusive leader with strong communication skills and the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the City of Beaverton as the next Public Works Director,” said Chad Lynn. “My wife, Jackie, and I are looking forward to becoming part of such a wonderful community.”

Beaverton’s Public Works Department has 110 employees and an operational budget of $90 million. The department is responsible for overseeing the city’s engineering and operations divisions, as well as implementation of the city’s Capital Improvement Plan with an estimated annual budget of $20 million.

In 2019, Beaverton’s Public Works Department was selected for full Accreditation by the American Public Works Association (APWA). The city is the 153rd Public Works agency in the nation, and just the fourth in Oregon, to receive this accomplishment. The accreditation process included two years of preparation during which city processes were formally verified and recognized.

Lynn is expected to start his new position on February 10, 2020. He replaces David Donaldson who announced his retirement earlier this year.
