Characteristics: Foliage is shiny green turning to yellow-red in fall with contrasting distinctive red twigs. This tree has a narrow, dense and upright growth habit. It is a uniform grower, becoming more oval in shape with age.

Negative Features: Surface roots can cause problems with sidewalks. Occasionally susceptible to aphids and scale that can cause honeydew drip and sooty mold problems.

Uses: Good for narrow setbacks and tight situations where room allows on arterial, collector and residential streets.

Comments: Karpick is a good columnar form of Red Maple that becomes broader with age.
