Native to: Eastern North America Crown: Stiffly upright Height: 25 - 30 feet Width: 10 feet Growth Rate: Slow
Characteristics: Fall foliage is orange to red. Bark is silvery. This is a true semi-dwarf.
Negative Features: Surface roots can cause problems with sidewalks. Occasionally susceptible to aphids and scale that can cause honeydew drip and sooty mold.
Uses: Good for narrow setbacks, under wires, cul-de-sacs and tight situations where there is little room on arterial, collector and residential streets. This is a good choice when a shorter tree is necessary in order not to obscure a view.
Comments: Doric is an excellent new cultivar of Red Maple that maintains a smaller size, and is good for tight situations.
