Characteristics: Fall foliage is yellow to orange-red. This is a great choice for a space which demands a tree that will not spread.
Negative Features: Surface roots can cause problems with sidewalks. Occasionally susceptible to aphids and scale that can cause honeydew drip and sooty mold problems.
Uses: Good for narrow setbacks, cul-de-sacs and tight places where there is little room on arterial, collector and residential streets.
Comments: Armstrong is a good columnar form of Red Maple, suitable for use in tough urban conditions.
