Characteristics: Fall foliage is brilliant scarlet. This is a new hybrid of Red Maple and Silver Maple, with the hardiness of Silver Maple and the fall color of Red Maple.
Negative Features: Occasionally susceptible to aphids and scale that can cause honeydew drip and sooty mold problems. Surface roots can cause problems with sidewalks.
Uses: Good for all street situations where room allows on arterial, collector and residential streets. Suitable for planting along boulevards.
Comments: Autumn Blaze Maple is a good shade tree with brilliant fall color. Could also be listed as Acer x freemanii.
