Characteristics: This is a prehistoric tree that is related to a conifer but has leaves rather than needles. It has bright yellow fall foliage. The mature tree has good drought tolerance.
Negative Features: In female trees the fleshy covering on the seed can be messy and have an unpleasant odor. Use male trees only.
Uses: Good for all street situations where room allows on arterials, collector and residential streets.
Comments: Shangri-La is an excellent shade tree for tough urban conditions. It has a narrower form than most Ginkgos.
