Native to: Midwest and Eastern United States Crown: Pyramidal Height: 20 - 30 feet Width: 10 - 15 feet Growth Rate: Fast
Characteristics: Foliage is brilliant red and orange in fall with profuse, small white flowers in spring. The maroon purple fruit is attractive to birds. It is somewhat resistant to pests. The roots are not aggressive.
Negative Features: Low branching and multi-stemmed habit requires regular pruning to develop tree form and maintain and 8' - 10' canopy suitable for street tree use.
Uses: Good for narrow setbacks. Good for underneath wires, cul-de-sacs and tight situations where there is little room on arterial, collector and residential streets. Best used in limited quantity. This is a good choice when a shorter tree is necessary in order not to obscure a view.
Comments: Pyramidal Shadblow is a good pyramidal cultivar of Serviceberry. This tree is effectively used along natural areas, wetlands, ponds and drainage channels.
