Characteristics: Light and dark green fall foliage turns yellow to orange and red in the fall. This is a narrow, upright tree.

Negative Features: Fruit can be quite messy. Surface roots can cause problems with sidewalks. May break up in ice storms and periods of drought.

Uses: Good for all street situations where room allows on arterial, collector, and residential streets.

Comments: Festival is a good cultivar of Sweetgum for use in narrow situations. It grows smaller than the species, but still needs plenty of room for surface roots.
