Native to: Mid-Eastern United States Crown: Dense, compact, rounded Height: 20 feet Width: 20 feet Growth Rate: Moderate
Characteristics: This tree exhibits pea-like clusters of fragrant white spring flowers and yellow fall foliage. Grows well in poor, dry soil and has fair drought tolerance. It is a nitrogen fixer.
Negative Features: May break up during ice storms. Grafts can have structural problems as they age.
Uses: Good for underneath wires, cul-de-sacs, and tight situations where there is little room. This is a good choice when a shorter tree is necessary in order not to obscure a view. Best used in limited quantities.
Comments: Globe Locust needs to be at a minimum of 6'-8' when grafted for use along streets.
