Characteristics: Leaves of this tree are a lustrous green on top and frosty silver beneath. There is not heavy fruit production, which may be due to flowers that are, supposedly, narcotic to bees. It has good drought and heat tolerance.

Negative Features: Occasionally susceptible to aphids and scale that can cause honeydew drip and sooty mold problems. Surface roots can cause problems with sidewalks.

Uses: Good for all street situations where room allows on arterial, collector, and residential streets. Suitable for planting along boulevards.
