Characteristics: This tree has fragrant spring flowers of pale yellow and yellow fall foliage. This is one of the hardiest Lindens.

Negative Features: Occasionally susceptible to aphids and scale that can cause honeydew drip and sooty mold problems. Surface roots can cause problems with sidewalks.

Uses: Good for all street situations where room allows on arterials, collector, and residential streets. Suitable for planting along boulevards.

Comments: Greenspire is a good shade tree for tough urban conditions. It is a good substitute for Glenleven, #51, Rancho, #52, DeGroot, #54, and other cultivars of Little-Leaf Lindens.
