Characteristics: Redmond has larger leaves than other Lindens, and fragrant yellow-white flowers in drooping clusters. It likes deep rich soil and plenty of water.
Negative Features: Young trees need staking and shaping. It is occasionally susceptible to aphids and scale than can cause honeydew drip and sooty mold problems. Surface roots can cause problems with sidewalks.
Uses: Good for all street situations where room allows on arterials, collector, and residential streets. Suitable for planting along boulevards.
Comments: Redmond Crimean Linden is a good shade tree for tough urban conditions. Basically, this is the same tree as #50, Tilia americana 'Redmond'.
