Characteristics: The leaves of this tree are dark green, turning yellow in fall and defoliating quickly. It maintains a good, dense branch structure.

Negative Features: Occasionally susceptible to aphids and scale that can cause honeydew drip and sooty mold problems. Surface roots can cause problems with sidewalks.

Uses: Good for all street situations where room allows on arterial, collector, and residential streets. Suitable for planting along boulevards.

Comments: Cleveland is a good shade tree with yellow fall color. It is a good substitute for Cavalier, #45, Emerald Queen, #46, and other green leafed, yellow fall colored maples.
