Fraxinus pennsylvanica 'Summit'

Native to: Eastern and Central United States
Crown: Moderately oval
Height: 50 feet
Width: 40 - 45 feet
Growth Rate: Fast

Characteristics: This ash is one of the first to color, turning yellow in fall. It is seedless and tolerates wet soil and severe cold.

Negative Features: Foliage burns in hot, dry winds. Can break up in ice-storms. Surface roots can cause problems with sidewalks.

Uses: Good for all street situations where room allows on arterial, collector, and residential streets. Suitable for planting along boulevards.

Comments: Summit is a good substitute for Bergeson or Patmore, #30 and #31.
