Characteristics: Fall color is yellow to red. Tolerates acidic and poorly drained soil.

Negative Features: Some consider the acorn fruit a nuisance.

Uses: Good for all street situations where room allows on arterial, collector and residential streets. Suitable for planting along boulevards.

Comments: Shumard Oak is a good substitute for the Northern Red Oak.
