Native to: Europe, Turkey and Iran Crown: Moderately oval Height: 60 feet Width: 40 feet Growth Rate: Slow
Characteristics: This tree has showy clusters of small, greenish-yellow spring flowers. It tolerates many soils and climate conditions and has moderate drought tolerance.
Negative Features: Occasionally susceptible to aphids and scale that can cause honeydew drip and sooty mold problems. Surface roots can cause problems with sidewalks. Deep colored foliage will tend to darken streets when used in mass plantings.
Uses: Good for all street situations where room allows on arterial, collector, and residential streets.
Comments: Schwedleri is a good Norway Maple with changing leaf color. It is a large, slow growing tree, suitable for boulevards. An improved, more uniform variety is 'Deborah.'
