Beaverton Affordable Rents Policy

The Affordable Rents policy guides the accessibility adaptions that may be available to certain tenants residing in qualified properties within Beaverton City limits. 

Grant assistance for accessibility adaptions in qualified properties must be available and meet the following criteria: 

  • Any adaptions must be determined to be of critical need 
  • The tenant must be elderly, defined as 62 years of age, or disabled 
  • The household receiving assistance must be income eligible (household income may not exceed 80% Area Median Income (AMI) 
  • The property where a client lives must be regulated (affordable to households with incomes at or below 80% of the AMI) under Federal, Oregon, Washington, or City of Beaverton guidelines
  • The household must not be charged a monthly rent that exceeds affordable rents. The City of Beaverton defines affordable rents as the most current Fair Market Rents for Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, OR-WA MSA, which are:
    • 2020 Efficiency = $1,192
    • 2020 One-Bedroom = $1,289
    • 2020 Two-Bedroom = $1,495
    • 2020 Three-Bedroom = $2,157
    • 2020 Four-Bedroom = $2,625

The landlord must authorize all modifications that will be made with CDBG funds to the unit prior to the project commencing.
