Training Division
The Beaverton Police Department's primary responsibility is to provide mandatory and supplemental training to department personnel. The Training Division also maintains officers' training records and certification standards, assists in the departments hiring process, and facilitates the field training evaluation program for new recruits. Our recruits also attend the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Academy. Each Academy consists of orientation and introductory classes to familiarize each new officer with his/her new duties.

The Training Division prides itself on having fully trained "in-house" instructors who are responsible for teaching a variety of courses. the Training Division has targeted specific courses to be taught monthly by the Department's instructors. By using "in-house" instructors, it increases the amount of training to department members, because officers are able to attend courses within the city and while on duty time.
