Transportation Plan Update

2035 Transportation System Plan Underway

The 2035 update of the City’s Transportation System Plan (TSP) is underway. The update is needed to comply with Metro’s Regional Transportation Plan and to expand the City’s TSP to include recently annexed areas and changed conditions.

Consultant DKS Associates is busy developing the transportation model, Existing Conditions and Issues Reports, and draft updated goals and policies. The public is encouraged to get involved in the development of the transportation plan that will determine the bicycle, transit, pedestrian, and vehicle improvement projects necessary to keep the system functioning acceptably over the next 25 years.

Public involvement opportunities will be centered on three Traffic Commission meetings that will invite participants to interact with the Commission and consultant as work products are reviewed. These work sessions are tentatively scheduled for December 4, 2008, February 5, 2009, and May 7, 2009, Traffic Commission meetings.

Staff will be available to make presentations at City committee and NAC meetings throughout the process. Four open houses will also invite residents to review the plan as it develops. Three open houses are tentatively scheduled just prior to the December, February, and May Traffic Commission meetings. The final open house will be scheduled most likely in June.

The 2035 TSP update is funded through an ODOT/DLCD Transportation and Growth Management Grant matched with City funding. Contact Margaret Middleton, Engineering Division, at 526-2424 to schedule presentations and for further information.

Traffic Commission Meetings

Traffic Commission meetings are held at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Beaverton City Hall, 4755 Griffith Drive, Beaverton.

Open Houses

These three open houses will be held from 5:30 to 6:45 prior to each Traffic Commission meeting in the Council Chamber at Beaverton City Hall, 4755 Griffith Drive, Beaverton.

A final open house will be scheduled in June 2009 at a time, date, and location to be announced.
