Information Technology

IT coordinates voice, data, spatial analysis (GIS), image and video at the three city locations, City Hall, Operations and the Library. The City has nearly 500 PCs at the three sites. All sites are linked via speeds of 100 MBS. Plans are underway to increase speeds to gigabit speeds over the next year. The major network operating system is Windows 2003 server with Windows XP clients and small pockets of Windows 2000 client operating systems. The networking protocol is TCP/IP.

IT is responsible for the procurement policies regarding information processing equipment and operating software. The department also provides system design, systems analysis, programming support, maps and spatial analysis applications, systems administration and in-house technical/user support to the city and its employees.
