Passport Renewal

PLEASE NOTE:   Children under 16 are required to submit both a state certified birth certificate and their old passport when renewing. These passports must be renewed in person.

Procedure

For passport renewal, contact the U.S. State Department Web page at travel.state.gov/passport/renew/renew_833.html.

RENEWAL BY MAIL

FEES: $110.00 NORMAL PROCESSING AND $170.00 FOR EXPEDITED SERVICE
PAYABLE TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE

Renewal by mail is available using form form DS-82 only all of the following four conditions apply to you:

  1. You can submit your most recent passport.
  2. You were at least 16 years old when your most recent passport was issued.
  3. You were issued your most recent passport less than 15 years ago.
  4. You use the same name that is on your most recent passport, OR, since your passport was issued, your name has changed by marriage or by court order and you can submit appropriate documentation to reflect the name change.

Important:
  • If you answered YES to ALL of the four statements above, you can apply to renew your passport by mail and you can use form DS-82. You do not need to appear before an agent.

  • If you answered NO to any of the four statements, you can’t apply by mail. You will need to use form DS-11 and your must appear before a passport agent to renew your passport. Please appear with a completed application and all of the required documents.
