About Business Licenses

Person using computer

Section 7.01 of the City of Beaverton Municipal Code requires that anyone engaging in any business within the City limits is required to pay a business license fee unless specifically exempt by State or Federal statute.

The business license fee imposed is for revenue purposes only. All businesses operating within the Beaverton City limits must comply with the City’s building, zoning, and police safety requirements. The City business license does not constitute a permit to engage in any activity prohibited by law nor a waiver of any other regulatory or license requirement imposed by any other provision of City ordinance or federal, state, regional or local law.

The business license fee is based on a calendar year with a December 31st expiration date. New businesses operating in Beaverton after June 30th of the current year will pay 1/2 of the fee. Thereafter, the annual business tax shall be due in full by January 31st each year.

The City of Beaverton honors Metro’s Construction & Landscaping Business License. If you are a registered contractor in the State of Oregon and wish more information about Metro’s license requirements, go to Metro’s Web site.
