“WHEN DISASTER STRIKES… CHANGING THE ROLE OF OUR CITIZENS FROM VICTIM TO PARTNER”
The primary purpose of CERT is to train citizens to protect and preserve themselves; their families and their neighborhood stay alive and safe during and after an emergency or disaster. It will take time for formal emergency services (i.e., fire, police, etc) to reach all geographical regions of Beaverton. During that time CERT training will make a huge difference to those closest to you.
Following a program established by Los Angeles and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the City of Beaverton supports its own CERT Program maintaining the principals of the FEMA course but tailoring it to provide practical application to the residents and businesses of Beaverton.
