If you were covered by insurance, you need to provide that information to the Court by either:
If you were not insured at the time of the violation and if a conviction is entered, you will need to contact the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) about submitting an SR-22.
This means that at the time the officer asked you for your insurance card or other proof of insurance you were unable to provide it to them. It does not mean you were uninsured. However, it cannot be dismissed by simply providing proof of insurance.
